The trouble is I can *totally* hear her saying that with a straight face. Dude, you need some way to leak this to Associated Press. :D

Something needs to make the Republican party rethink their current stance on a lot of issues. But, as we always see, the party in power is arrogant and the party out of power is crazy. The just reverse their roles every decade or so.

I am quite proud of McCain for now distancing himself from Hagge. I think he's moved a step in the right direction. And I'm also glad that Obama has distanced himself from his former pastor as well. I think there is more than enough religious craziness to go around.

I'd rather see the candidates associate themselves with religious leaders who seek to love those who have hurt them, rather than attacking (something Obama's pastor didn't seem to understand).

I look forward to seeing the candidates take a closer look at who's advising them. I think we'll see a lot more repudiations in the near future. Just because someone supports you, doesn't mean that you need to support them.

Though I'm currently leaning slightly more to the Democrat side, it's more because of a lack of options than anything else. I'm having a hard time seeing the current Republican leadership looking out for any but themselves and the well off. The Democrats aren't much better, but they are just enough for me to vote their way. My hope is that a defeat this november will cause the Republican party to rethink the way they've been going.

By the way, I quite enjoyed your blog. Thanks for stopping by.

Actually, McCain distanced himself from and repudiated Hagge's remarks in pretty short order. Something Obama couldn't seem to accomplish with Wright after 20 years in his church. Or is it only Republican associations with religious craziness that you're concerned with?

Hey Lar,
Yeah, it was unfortiunate phrasing on her part. I hope that it was just a mistake and not a freudian slip. Anyway, if I find problems with your grammar you can always blame it on Sohmer :)

I had heard this comment on the news and I must agree that that is exactly how it hit my brain. The unfortunate pause made it sound like she was clarifying that the 'hard working Americans' were in fact 'white Americans'.

The fact that there was a second follow-up statement that included a racial descriptor (whites in both states) really made it sound like she was discounting all voters who were non-whites and that she was the best choice for all white voters.

Please don't pick apart my grammar.

[...] IlliniPundit wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerpt I felt like being geeky today, so I thought I’d take a look at Sen. Clinton’s mistake. Normally I wouldn’t care, but after all of the fuss over Sen. Obama’s comments about clinging to guns I figured she’s fair game for slips. So, without further ado here is the comment: “There was just an AP article posted that found how Sen.
